When planning an event, it helps to know a little about your guests. The drinks you plan to serve should reflect the tastes of your guests, and the style of your event. Throwing a Super Bowl party can be as simple as a case of beer and sandwiches, or as fancy as drinks that reflect the team colors and food from the region of the country where the Super Bowl is being played. It all depends on your guests and the atmosphere you want to create.
The time of day that your party takes place is also a consideration. People tend to consume different types of alcohol during the day than in the evening, and also tend to drink less during the day. You may want to serve bloody mary's and mimosa's at a morning brunch, and hot toddy's by the fire after an intimate dinner.
Remember that if the location of your party is outside of your home, a permit may be required to reserve a location, consume alcohol, have music or entertainment or use glassware. A backyard party that continues late into the evening, or involves loud music or entertainment may also need a permit. Check with the city or neighborhood association before making plans. Planning a party, and then finding out that certain restrictions exist can put a damper on any event.
